Knight TV Rene Rodriguez

Born in Ottawa and raised in Mexico, René developed his appreciation for cooking at the age of 12 when he worked at his uncle’s restaurant. At the age of 18, he returned to Ottawa and started working as an apprentice cook in various restaurants in the Ottawa region over a period of 5 years.

At the age of 24 he enrolled Le Cordon Bleu Cooking School program and then went on to complete his Red Seal Certification and culinary courses at Algonquin College. René honed his skills as Sous Chef at the Ironwood Café and at Luna Bar And Kitchen and is now the proud Chef de Cuisine at Ottawa’s ARC Lounge. The chic interior of this trendy hot spot plays second fiddle to the incredible menu and culinary delights put together by Chef and his team of artists.

Rene gets his inspiration from reading various chefs’ cookbooks and traveling to taste the creations of his favorite Chef’s. When not working, René indulges in his passions for classical music, traveling and dining in world-class restaurants and working in famous kitchens such as the Fifth Floor in San Francisco. René’s mentors include Ferran Adria from El Bulli in Spain, Ken Oringer from Boston and Charlie Trotter from Chicago.

Chef René’s signature dishes include: Crab & avocado salad with grapefruit & Jalapeno, Foie gras torchon with sour rhubarb – ginger compote & Sauternes caramel Lamb three ways / Rack Perigeaux / T-Bone Provencal / Cassoulet with sauce Gribiche Moroccan inspired tuna tartare with black olives, preserved lemon & Argan oil
